Pima Community College Adds Lagun Machines

Pima Community College recently added six Republic Lagun MVM 2 mills and six Republic Lagun RL 1640 G TW lathes to its Machine Tool Technology program, giving students more hands on access to industrial grade equipment built for real world machining education.

Pima’s program teaches students the fundamentals of manual and CNC machining, inspection, metallurgy, technical drawings, quality assurance and computer aided machining. With Lagun mills and lathes in the shop, students can build those skills on equipment that reflects the precision, durability and performance expected in professional manufacturing environments.

Blue wrapped Lagun machines secured on a flatbed truck for delivery to Pima Community College’s machining program.

The new machines also support Pima’s larger mission to prepare students for in demand careers across Arizona’s growing aerospace, defense, healthcare and advanced manufacturing industries. Through its Centers of Excellence, Pima continues to connect classroom learning with the technology and training employers need from the next generation of skilled workers.

For Lagun, this installation represents exactly where our machines belong: in the hands of students learning how to turn raw material into precise, finished parts. A machine in an educational environment has to do more than perform. It has to teach, support confidence and stand up to daily use.

As the machines are installed, set up and put into regular use, Lagun looks forward to following up with Pima after students and instructors have had time to work with the equipment. We are proud to support Pima Community College and the future of American manufacturing.
